FAMILY NEEDS ASSESSMENT AND CULTURAL SAFETY PROJECTS
NATURE OF THE PROJECT
In an effort to continue to improve the services provided to relatives at the JAP Clinic, a project to systematically assess their needs started in the spring of 2023. This project was developed collaboratively with the participation of all members of the JAP team, members of the entourage of young people who had been admitted to the JAP, and young people who had been followed by the JAP, regardless had become peer helpers or not.
Considering the major influence of intersectional aspects (cultural and religious affiliations and identities, migration status, language, racialization, material living conditions, gender identities, sexual orientation, age, disabilities, etc.) on access to and adherence to health services, our project committee has decided to focus throughout the project on ensuring that its action and governance strategies are guided by principles of cultural safety.
THE VOICES OF LOVED ONES: A PATH TO CULTURAL SAFETY
This short video, produced by Susanne Serres, a filmmaker and patient partner of our clinic, will allow you to learn about the process and current results of the project.
ONLINE QUESTIONNAIRE AND SUPPORT GUIDE
As mentioned in the video, one of the major outcomes of the project was the development of a questionnaire to assess the needs of family members, which allows them, at all stages of follow-up at the clinic, to share their realities, needs, and values with the treatment team in order to directly guide the services provided to them.
As mentioned in the video, one of the project’s key outcomes was the development of a needs assessment questionnaire for family members. This questionnaire allows them, at every stage of their care at the clinic, to share their experiences, needs, and values with the treatment team, thereby directly guiding the services provided to them. The questionnaire and accompanying guide are available for download below.
